Grayson Williamson of the Sicamous Eagles will join the Okanagan Lakers in the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League this fall.
The Armstrong native played 40 games for the Eagles and collected three points. The 6-1, 205-pound forward played with improved quickness and more physicality.
“I’m super excited to get the opportunity to continue playing hockey at the college level,” said Williamson.
Williamson, 21, debuted in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League during the 2021-22 season, playing in eight regular season games for the North Okanagan Knights. He played in 124 career regular season games and had three goals, eight assists for 11 points. He added four points in 24 KIJHL Teck Cup playoff games.
“My time in the organization helped me earn this opportunity with former head coach Liam McOnie bringing me over after coaching me on the Knights from 2021-2024,” said Williamson. “Liam pushed me every day to be a better player and person.”
“I couldn’t be more excited for Grayson to earn an opportunity to play college hockey,” said McOnie. “He has always found ways to contribute on and off the ice. I’m sure he will continue to bring a positive, team-first attitude and leadership as he continues his hockey career with the Lakers.”
