Rusznak, Hughes & Makowsky named KIJHL 3 Stars of the Week

 

 

Jaden Rusznak (100 Mile House Wranglers), Nick Hughes (Kimberley Dynamiters) and Michael Makowsky (Sicamous Eagles) have been selected as the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending Sept. 29/24.

Rusznak – Top Forward – The Okotoks, Alta., product scored two goals and added five assists in three games for the Wranglers and was involved in 58 per cent of their offence. In a 4-3 loss to the Creston Valley Thunder Cats, Rusznak was named the first star after scoring a goal and adding two assists. In their 6-4 win over the Fernie Ghostriders, Rusznak again had a goal and two assists. Then in their 5-3 loss to the Dynamiters, Rusznak assisted on their third goal. In five games, Rusznak has three goals and six assists.

Hughes – Top Defenceman – The Calgary, Alta., product had two goals and five assists in two games for the Dynamiters. After being held pointless in their 5-4 shootout win over the Ghostriders, Hughes had a massive performance being involved in all their goals in a 5-3 win over the Wranglers. He set up Danik Reeves for the power-play winning goal at 8:05 of the second period. In four games this season, Hughes has three goals and three assists.

Makowsky – Top Goalie – The Okotoks, Alta., product earned a win in two games for the Eagles as he made 67 saves on 70 shots for a .957 save rate and a 1.62 goals against average. Against the Princeton Posse in a 4-0 loss, Makowsky came in relief of Kohen McEllistrum and saved 35 of 36 shots in 51:09 of action. In their 6-2 win over the Merritt Centennials, Makowsky made 32 saves. In four games, Makowsky has two wins with a 1.88 GAA and a .951 save rate.
