Burke, Aebly, Sweet named Instat KIJHL 3 Stars of the Week

 

 

Tyler Burke (Sicamous Eagles), Ethan Aebly (Golden Rockets) and Brett Sweet (Columbia Valley Rockies) have been selected as the Instat KIJHL 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending December 11.

Burke – Top Forward – The Vernon product collected six goals in two games, helping the Eagles earn a pair of wins. On Dec. 7 against Kamloops, he opened the scoring and netted his first hat-trick of the week, while adding an insurance goal into an empty net to secure the win. Against Chase in a 7-2 win, Burke enjoyed another three-goal performance. His first two goals erased a 2-0 Chase lead. His third goal made it 7-2. Burke has 26 points in 26 games, including 11 goals and 19 points in 15 games as an Eagle.

Aebly – Top Defenceman – The Grande Prairie, Alberta product had a goal and three assists in two games as the Rockets split their weekend. Aebly had three assists, including one on the insurance goal in a 8-3 win over the Nelson Leafs. In a 3-1 loss to Kimberley, Aebly scored the lone Rockets goal. Aebly is third on the Rockets with 31 points in 27 games, which ranks him first in the league.

Sweet – Top Goalie – The Calgary, Alberta product helped the Rockies earn a pair of wins over the Fernie Ghostriders and Nelson Leafs. Against Nelson, he stopped 23 of 24 shots in a 5-1 win, then against Nelson, he turned aside 26 shots in a 6-0 victory. He stopped 49 of 50 shots for a .980 SP and a 0.50 GAA. In 14 games this season, Sweet has nine wins, a 2.43 GAA and a .919 SP.
