Eagles’ Lott signs with University of Jamestown

Sicamous Eagles goalie Jordan Lott will play for the University of Jamestown Jimmies in ACHA Division I in the fall.

Lott, 20, joins the Jimmies after a season with the Eagles in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League in which he won 4 of 15 games with a 3.31 goals against average and .909 save percentage.

The 6-0, 195-pound goalie is excited to join what he said is an “excellent program” and looks forward to playing with former Revelstoke Grizzlies goalie Brandon Weare.

“Education was the big aspect. The parents love it when you get to go to university. I looked at some of the programs and a lot of them were really interesting to me,” said Lott, when talking about the fit. “Playing wise, I was happy I could move on to the next level and be able to play university hockey.”

His season was filled with “a lot of ups and downs,” but Lott felt he was finding his game near the end of the season. Lott came to the Eagles from the Cochrane Generals and said during the season his ability to anticipate and read plays improved. “The KIJHL is a very fast league and you have to react a lot quicker and I think that was the biggest adjustment that I had to make,” he said.
