A Change in Name for KIJHL Sting

May 16th 2009 - It was announced today that the Summerland Sting of the KIJHL will relocate to Penticton for the 2009/10 hockey season and will now be known as the "Penticton Lakers".

Sporting the colors of purple and gold on a revamped jersey , Lakers President Andy Oakes says the team will play out of the 550 seat community centre in Penticton in a university-style atmosphere. On behalf of the Summerland Sting, Oakes would also like to thank the District of Summerland's staff for their hard work and dedication over the years.
