"When Coach Blair Robinson first approached our son about playing full time with the Sicamous Eagles,
we were somewhat hesitant. Ty, having just turned 16, attended the Eagles Main Camp last summer and had played only one game as
an AP player. He loved being around the guys and the coaching staff, but was a bit nervous about moving to a new school in a small town and
leaving home to live with a billet family. Of course we were nervous as parents as well. But after talking to Coach Robinson and Wayne March, the
General Manager, we started to feel more comfortable. The primary focus of the Eagles organization is player development. They have clear
expectations for behavior on and off the ice (eg. zero tolerance for drugs and alcohol) and they place a high priority on
school. Both high schools (Kelowna OKM and Sicamous) worked together to transition Ty into his classes midway through the
term and he maintained an A+ average.
During the year in Sicamous, Tyler was able to develop his hockey skills without compromising his schooling and
grew from the experience of living away from home with a good family. We would fully recommend the Sicamous program to other
parents looking for a first class junior hockey experience!"
